Meet n Greet

Seattle, WA
I guess this is the area for the meet n greet. Hello and welcome, Friends, Family and Strangers. We’ll see how this whole blogging thing goes, as of now there are no real outlines for it--I'm thinking I'll take a Freudian approach and let my subconscious do the writing. I guess I'm here 'cause, well, I just like to write. I also like to take pictures, doodle, sketch, write long lists and share the strange things I find on the interweb. Some applaud my humble exploration, while others... well don't. I'm a little disheveled in my abstractions and narrations, but I can be interesting sometimes, too. I don't really care, but now that you have entered my world, you are now a part of the judging jury. This is an outlet for my musings. Nonlinear and no editing. Enjoy.

A habit to break? Easy, I've got several.

1. Not putting away my clothes, whether they be dirty or clean.
2. Losing things... keys, wallet, credit cards, ID's, books, water cups, mugs, phone... really anything losable, I will lose.
3. Tangental thinking while in conversation. Either silently or out loud. I have this weird problem where a word will hook itself in me and will take me on a little ride outside the current conversation leaving me looking glazed over... Or I will simply be talking out loud to myself in completely incoherent thoughts when I'm trying to get a task done, leaves bystanders either amused or confused... Not a bad habit I guess, but embarrassing none the less.
4. I snack all day and never eat full solid meals. Leaves me hungry at very inappropriate times and starving when theres no food. It sucks.
5. I'm terrible at calling people back. It's seriously a bad habit. I hate that I do it.

Gifts from God

I try to avoid talking about myself unless it is for my own (immense) gain, i.e.: job interviews, applications or first dates.

So to brag about myself on my own blog seems a little redundant. Blogs are after all, the chamber we create that hold all our self-involved thoughts and views.

I'll tell you my gifts from God. In no particular order. Things that God has given me... most of them in surplus. Even more out of pure grace.

My family. My childhood. My geological location. My friends and loved ones. My health (when its being nice). The huge bathtub I get to lounge in. The clean water that comes from the faucet in the big bathtub I get to lounge in. The decently successful government I live in (in the grand scheme of things....). The lovely notes I get from roommates. The fact "home" for me is always sunny. My verrry clean room (at the moment). Chewy. The fact God created flowers to dust the earth with. The fact that God made the weirdest critters to dust the earth with... Good doctors. Music. The resources I have to lead a healthy life. Cozy blankets to keep warm. Good beer. Hummus. Different flavored Hummus. Love. Mercy. Kindness. Forgiveness. Time. When Kea doesn't poop in her diaper. God's Revelation. Beautiful moments like birds flying circle eights in the sky. A good game of Bananagrams. A cheap glass of wine with valuable friends. Cooking. Swimming. Sunshine and summer time. When my frog Buddha-Limon does cartweels. Sleeping in. Lazy weekends. Roommate dates. House dinners. Dancing. Breathing. Worshipping. Painting. Loving. Kissing. Volunteering. EDVP. heart to hearts. bad jokes. baking failures. deep laughter. old friends. driving with the windows down. Captivating movies. Girl protagonists. The middle East. photography. road trips. dying my hair. buying groceries. little animals. oversized animals. James Stewart. Museums. pants that are comfy and look great. oversized tshirts. Grey. high heels. really high heels. blue eyes. little kids. spring time. tall trees. weird looking bugs. the creepy feeling spiders give me. traveling by myself. living in community. serving. being served. happy hours. Did I say good beer? good church sermons. goat cheese. being a bad vegan. Molly moons. fresh veggies. spicy food. really spicy food. celebrations. new years. running. mopping the floor. when I come home and my parents take care of me. old posters from the 30's,40's,50's. Feminism. current events. social justice. awareness. candles. cuddling. braids. overstuffed couches. grey blue. burritos from tacaria.

I guess this is turning into a list of things I like... but aren't they all gifts nonetheless?

Maybe the question implied more relational gifts, like ability to persevere or encourage or inspire.... if that's the case, then I'm tough out of luck. I already spent 30 minutes day dreaming about all the wonderful things God gives in this life, I don't want to ruin it with thinking about my little offerings to the world.

10 facts about who?

1. This picture was taken in Pismo over spring break. Not too interesting, but I'm sure you were wondering, so I felt obligated to use one of my crucial and sparse "interesting facts" on that.

2. I've been a vegetarian my entire life, save for my freshman year of college where I greedily explored all the tastes of animals. After my freshman year I left those ways and now I am slowly meandering my way into veganism with the exception of Molly Moon's ice cream and a good cheese with wine... That might be boring to you, but you might find it interesting that I had my first hamburger at 17, and for those who knew that fact, my first dance with buffalo hot wings was when I was 19. Be wary if you ask me why I am a vegetarian/vegan. I will ramble about everything that our meat industry does in which it is careless... sadly, I'm not talking just about animal rights.

3. I love God. I follow Jesus; what a Holy man, what an amazing teacher. He is my light and hope in this dark world. With that said, I also find great strength in my faith through other religious teachings, meaning, I love seeing how others love. It's inspiring and leaves me in awe. We have a lot to learn from each other. I find one of the greatest tragedies is how hostile and afraid we are of those different than us. I find it appalling at what lengths we go to change peoples minds... we are all guilty. We are all human and could learn valuable things from each other during this short time we have.

4. My family is lazy boy and my friends are my dance floor. Meaning, my family are people who I find the most comfort and stability. I can relax and feel safe when I am around them. I am so blessed to have such an amazing family. They taught me to love. On the other hand, my friends hold so many of my good memories and good times. They have been there through the bad songs and the good songs. I love them so much and I love how much my group of friends has grown through out the years. What I found interesting is when I run across friends that become both my dance floor and my lazy boy. They are such special friends.

5. I have the hugest crush James Stewart. Check him out. Click here.

6. I really want a reddish golden retriever or just this dog... Click

7. This is my third year in Seattle. Yes the weather sucks most days and yes, I'm still waiting for what people say "You'll get used to it."

8. I'm really abstract. Almost too much, things like grammar are hard for me to comprehend because I always imagined English to be too creative to be restrained by rules. I was wrong. I think I also use my abstract mind as a excuse for my careless dyslexia. It's much easier to blame an over active mind for mistakes than a lazy mind.

9. I am fickle. Some people see this as behavior as indecisive but I see it as being reaaally good at being fickle. I flip through options so quick that I can easily hit a stalemate between two options before even deciding.

10. I love creativeness. I appreciate beauty in all shapes, forms and people. I find it amazing how this world works and how little people grow up into old people, how cars run, how sugar is sweet and how the feeling of love never wears out. I love quirky things that borderline eery, like Alice in Wonderland, Hitchcock films and abandoned houses. I also love super romantic aesthetic accents like big bows, soft colors, sweet smelling candles and pearls. As close as this sounds like "personal want ad", its not. I'm happily head over heals for an incredible man.

Sorry for the wordiness. For some reason I felt like I had to pick ten facts that I could take with me to a desert island and all the facts I choose to leave behind would vanish forever... So I tried to squeeze in everything.

THIRTY
